I haven't seen this covered in the FAQ so i'm asking here:

I've just seen this challenge and it sounds pretty interesting. Now i've already had Visual Studio C++ 2008 Express installed and set up nicely.

Is using the Express edition allowed or do you explicitely have to use the Trial version of the full studio?

This is exactly my question I don't have VC++, but if I'm going to install it I'd rather get the express edition so I don't have it bothering me about a trial.

While we would appreciate people downloading the VS 2008 trial version, there's nothing in the official rules which says that you must use that version - so if you have Express Edition installed, you are able to use that - yes.
