The Windows Mobile Game: In Depth

2008_02_25_wmthumb.jpgHaving looked at the Windows version of Dr. Dobb's Challenge, let's look at the Windows Mobile version.

The Windows Mobile version of Dr. Dobb's Challenge has been developed by B3Team specifically for Windows Mobile.

Much like the Windows version, the intention is to be simple for both Windows Mobile developers and those new to Windows Mobile to work with.

The game itself features Dr. Dobbs, alongside the characters from Microsoft's famous 'Defy All Challenges' machinima videos, in a single-screen platform title where they must avoid bugs and collect Visual Studio icons across multiple levels of increasing difficulty.

Unlike the Windows version, the Windows Mobile version features several layers of user interface, including a title screen, an options screen and a character select.

In addition, once the player begins playing, you can see the world features finely detailed sprite art plus a variety of different tile sets across the levels:

If you'd like to play the Dr. Dobb's Challenge The Mobile Version, you can download it here, which includes both the full source code (should you want to have a crack at modding it) the Windows Mobile version (for play on a Windows Mobile device) and a specially-compiled version which will run in a window on any Windows PC.
